Calvin Hui is an acclaimed cultural entrepreneur in Hong Kong. In 2011 he joined Fine Art Asia, bringing a fresh and exciting perspective towards the establishment of Fine Art Asia as Asia’s leading international fine art fair. In the past three years, Calvin has successfully raised the fair profile through a number of international campaigns including the ground-breaking collaboration with the renowned Masterpiece fine art fair in London, where he curated the first-ever Hong Kong Pavilion. Calvin continues to introduce and develop various elements such as contemporary ink, art and design and decorative art to enhance the continual expansion of the Hong Kong-originated fair.

As an art collector and experienced art promoter, Calvin has been appointed to the Member of Art Museum Advisory Panel, Leisure and Cultural Services Department, HKSAR from 2014-2016. He was a member of the Board of Governors of the Hong Kong Arts Centre from 2009-2012.

In 2013, Calvin, together with cultural entrepreneur Adrian Cheng, co-founded Arts in Heritage Research (AHR), a not-for-profit organisation which aims to cultivate a sustainable growth and wider awareness of Hong Kong’s arts and heritage in a regional and global context. AHR collaborates with institutions and experts to carry out heritage education, community outreach programmes, artist-in-residence and cultural journalism campus. AHR is a new force to support and optimise the development of local arts and cultural conservation.

Calvin regularly attends art exhibitions in various cities within Asia and around the world and has developed a valuable network of artists, curators, gallerists and collectors. He has also contributed articles on art-related topics to major publications in Hong Kong such as the Hong Kong Economic Journal, a leading financial newspaper.

In 2014, Calvin acted as the curator of La Bienniale des Lions, celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between France and China. In 2012-2013, Calvin was appointed as the Art PR consultant for the annual Le French May, a major art festival in Hong Kong and Macau with over 120 exhibitions, performances and events, organised by the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macau. In 2008 and 2012, Calvin and his team were appointed by the Hong Kong Institute of Architects as the project manager to organise exhibitions, forums and workshops for the Hong Kong & Shenzhen Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism/ Architecture which took place at the Central Police Station Compound and Kowloon Park respectively.
